OPI Designer Series

So today was a very long day for me! I had school from 8am until 9pm. Then I had a TV show on to watch, so I began to do these swatches very late. Sorry if I was slacking a bit, I know I could have put in a bit more effort today! Also, all of these photos can be clicked on an viewed larger. It is better to see this collection larger, to get the best effect.

The Designer Series bottles are more expensive than regular OPI, they retail for about $5.00 more. I own 6 of them, is that bad?? Haha well I paid full price for 3 of them, and the other 3 I grabbed as a package at a hair salon on sale! I should really go back there and see if they have any more. This is going to be a very long post!

Alright, so I started with DS Treasure. I had bought this in the pack of 3, and it was not really my favourite. This swatch was actually the first time I had used it. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. This colour is a light jelly orange base with yellowish-orangish small glitter through it.
This is one coat. It goes on extremely sheer.

This is 2 coats, still quite sheer and does not look like the bottle. I decided rather than doing a third coat, I would just try it over a black base, and a white base. I used OPI Black Onyx, and OPI Y'all come back ya hear?.

This is one coat. It looks nice, but I did one more just for good measure.

The colour looks much nicer with the orange! It looks a lot closer to the bottle on top of the orange than it does by itself. And I absolutely LOVE it on top of the black! Seeing this made me fall in love with this colour. It really brings out all the glitter flakes in the colour. It reminds me of Halloween and I wish I had of tried this before because I would have for sure done it for Halloween. Overall, I am feeling better about this colour, and I am now glad that I own it!

Next I did DS Coronation. It is a clear base with tiny holographic sparkles in it. I paid full price for it, because I loved it so much. I haven't really worn it that much though. I like doing these swatches, because it makes me remember all the wonderful colours I own and different things I can try with them! Here it is with 1 coat:
Very sheer again, but I kind of like it.

2 coats. Still a bit sheer, but I like.

1 coat over top of Black Onyx and Alpine Snow.

2 coats.

A bit out of focus to show the holographic effect.

Overall, I still love this colour. But after trying it over the black and white, I still think I like it more on its own. I am glad I bought it, and I would recommend it. It also looks even better with 3 coats, but I was too lazy to do that. Forgive me! But, good investment. I would recommend it!

Next I did DS Glamour. I got this one in the pack of 3, and this colour is the reason I bought the pack. It is a purpley-blue, and extremely holographic. I don't like it very much with my skin tone, but I still wear it because it is such an awesome colour. Here is 1 coat:
Pretty sheer, but I could probably deal with it if I had of done it a little thicker.

Here it is with 2 coats. It is the only DS that I own that goes on absolutely amazing with no base. I didn't even swatch it with a base, because it is beautiful like this. A very nice colour. If I had of seen it before I found it on sale, I would have probably paid full price for it, also.

Next I did DS Temptation. I paid full price for this one. I had to buy it, because I love purple. It is a blueish-purple jelly base, with tons and tons of purple sparkles, and a few blue and turquoise sparkles. Maybe a bit of silver too, or holographic. Very hard to tell, because there are so many purple sparkles in it. The photos of the bottle do not do this colour justice, it is a beautiful colour and no picture can truly capture it. You need to find it and see it for real. Here it is with one coat:
Sheer yet again, and I don't care much for the jelly base.

2 coats. If I were going to wear it, I would do 3+ coats to get it the most accurate. This, by the way, is the most accurate portrayal of the bottle colour. Here is 1 coat over top of black and white:

And here is 2 coats:
Ugh. This makes me depressed because I fell in love with this colour when I saw it, and I am really disappointed with how it turned out. I wish it were easier to apply, and I wish it would look like the bottle! I still have an attachment to it because it's purple, but I wouldn't recommend buying it if you want it to look like the bottle. Because it doesn't look like the bottle at all! The only way I could get it closest to accurate was by applying 3-4 coats. And with a base and a top, it did not last at all. With the chunky glitter it needs 2 coats of top coat to be even. And when I applied it with a base, 3 coats, and a top, it peeled within a few hours :( Overall, not impressed with the application of this, which is very upsetting to me because I love it.

The last colour I swatched tonight was DS Magic. It is a deep blue, almost a navy. but since it is holographic, it has a turquoise feel to it. I can't even begin to describe the glitter flecks in it. Blue, with some purple and maybe some orange? Decide for yourself, because I cannot make an attempt. Haha. Here is one coat:
Very sheer, what a surprise. But this is another one that goes on very well with few coats.

This is 2 coats. Usually I would do it a bit thicker, but I was getting frustrated and trying to watch my show at the same time! I don't ever wear a base, and I always get compliments when I wear this colour. But I tried it with a black base:
I like the turnout of this, but I still prefer it by itself. This gives a more elegant feel, while no base makes it more flashy. What do you think?

I like this colour a lot.I paid full price for this one as well. I am glad I bought it. Like I said, I get many compliments on it whenever I wear it. It's a very individual blue, not like any other.

This concludes my review on the Designer Series colours that I own. There are a few more I'd still like to own, and when I do, I will post a review.

I know, I said I had 6 DS colours. I do! I also have DS Desire, which is a copper-brownish holographic shade. But unfortunately, for some reason, I could not get the bottle open! I have never used it, so I don't know why it is so stuck on! I got it open once, but didn't wear it. Not even my dad could open it for me! I was sad about this because I was excited to swatch it for you guys, since I had never even tried it myself. Well, hopefully I will get it open one day and I will do a review on it as well! Sorry guys! I will keep trying :)

Well this concludes this very long post. It took me forever to do as well, because it was not letting me upload my photos! Each one took multiple tries. Does anyone else have this problem? I have it frequently. But, I am going to go to bed now. I am exhausted!
